1. Policy Statement
RJ5 Ltd is committed to promoting equality of opportunity for all employees, job applicants, contractors, and customers. We aim to create a working environment in which all individuals are able to make best use of their skills, free from discrimination or harassment, and in which all decisions are based on merit.
We oppose all forms of unlawful and unfair discrimination. All employees, whether part-time, full-time, or temporary, will be treated fairly and with respect.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all employees, directors, officers, contractors, volunteers, interns, and anyone else acting on behalf of RJ5 Ltd. It covers all aspects of employment including recruitment, selection, training, promotion, pay, benefits, disciplinary procedures, and termination.
3. Protected Characteristics
The Equality Act 2010 protects individuals from discrimination based on the following characteristics:
Age · Disability · Gender reassignment · Marriage and civil partnership · Pregnancy and maternity · Race (including colour, nationality, and ethnic or national origin) · Religion or belief · Sex · Sexual orientation.
RJ5 Ltd will not tolerate discrimination, harassment, or victimisation on the basis of any of these protected characteristics.
4. Responsibilities
The Directors of RJ5 Ltd have overall responsibility for ensuring this policy is implemented and complied with. All managers and supervisors are responsible for ensuring that those they manage are aware of and comply with this policy.
Every employee has a responsibility to act in accordance with this policy, to treat colleagues and customers with dignity and respect, and to report any concerns about discriminatory behaviour to their line manager or a Director.
5. Recruitment and Selection
RJ5 Ltd is committed to ensuring that recruitment and selection processes are fair, open, and transparent. Job requirements will be clearly defined and all candidates will be assessed against the same criteria. We will not ask questions which might suggest an intention to discriminate on grounds of a protected characteristic.
6. Training and Development
RJ5 Ltd will ensure that all employees have access to training and development opportunities on an equal basis. We will identify and remove any barriers that may prevent individuals from accessing training or progressing within the company.
7. Harassment and Bullying
RJ5 Ltd will not tolerate harassment or bullying of any kind. Harassment is unwanted conduct related to a protected characteristic which has the purpose or effect of violating an individual's dignity or creating an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating, or offensive environment.
Any employee who believes they have been subjected to harassment or bullying should report this to their line manager or a Director as soon as possible.
8. Complaints Procedure
Any employee who believes they have been discriminated against, harassed, or victimised should raise the matter through RJ5 Ltd's grievance procedure. All complaints will be taken seriously, investigated promptly and confidentially, and dealt with appropriately.
Employees who make a complaint in good faith will not be subjected to any detriment as a result. Any employee found to have discriminated against or harassed another individual will be subject to disciplinary action, which may include dismissal.
9. Monitoring and Review
RJ5 Ltd will monitor the effectiveness of this policy on a regular basis and will review it at least annually, or following any significant changes in legislation or company structure. Any updates will be communicated to all employees.
